“There are teams here stronger than us, our goal will come later”
Alberto Contador took good outcome of the team time trial held today at the Eneco Tour, although the Saxo Bank-Tinkoff Baknk didn’t the best time. “I had a good feeling and my legs are pretty good, but it was a very flat time trial for me, which is on the climbs where I can make the difference”, he said at the end of the stage.
“I'm happy with the team, we have synchronized well, but for this time trial there are other teams stronger and for them this race is more important, because we have our goals later”, said Contador. “Anyway I'm happy with the work done and now we will recover for next days and continue the set-up for the Vuelta”.
Alberto admitted that although he likes to fight in every race for the general and “try to do well, this is a race totally against my carcacteristics and it is complicated to get into the fight for the general. We'll see the result, but the important thing here is to work for the Tour of Spain”.
Finally, Contador acknowledged to be enjoying the team environment and be back with their teammates. “Yes, I am very happy because this is the team where I want to be, I’m sure that there wouldn’t be a better one to return and in fact I've never felt out of it. The ompenetration is total and that is important to perform well on the main objectives that we have within short time”.
